I have a state recognized massage license in Louisiana and California and am a member of the Associated Bodyworkers and Massage Professionals. I started my massage business in 2017 and worked from my St Roch studio and provided massage through the New Orleans Family Justice Center until 2023. With a background in education and interests in somatics and healing justice, I aim to provide an affirming, trauma informed, consent based session where client and practitioner can be a team with open communication and active participation in finding the therapeutic healing that works for them.
My primary modalities are Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial, and trigger point therapy. In a session with me you can expect a balance between long relaxing strokes to help the nervous system come down from a heightened place and more specific targeted work to relieve adhesions or trigger points. I occasionally guide short visualizations or breath cues to help mind and body fully enter the space, but can always skip these if thats your preference.
Cancellation policy
Please let me know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. The cost of the session is owed when canceled anytime after 24 hours before your appointment time (if your massage is at noon, telling me after 12:00 the day before leads to a fee). If you were planning on utilizing the sliding scale rates, then half the standard rate is owed ($65 fee for an hour session cancelled in Oakland with less than 24 hours notice).
What’s the difference in massage choices?
One hour session: This is a fairly standard massage length with time to briefly address the whole body and focus on 1-2 target areas. In one hour, the nervous system can come to a rest and digest state and several areas of muscle tension can get deep relief. The is a great option if you’re wanting to come more frequently, are short on time, or if simply the price is the most accessible option. A one hour massage can do wonders for improving sleep, reducing stress, and relieving pain in the body.
75 minute session: This amount of time allows for everything in a one hour session, but with the opportunity to have more deeper work in targeted areas. The additional fifteen minutes provides a bit more time and space for us to both see where more work is needed. This is a great choice if you’re feeling multiple problem areas, experiencing more stress than usual, or if 90 minutes seems too long but your last hour massage felt too short!
90 minute session: A ninety minute session more than likely allows for the whole body to be addressed, with targeted attention on perhaps 2-3 target areas. There is more time for massage techniques to be repeated in a way that goes deeper into the muscle tissues and the mind often can more readily experience deep relaxation. If you are an athlete, perform repetitive movements in your daily life, experience high stress, joint joints, chronic pain, or simply want to extend your session and time for care, this is a great option for you.
In all session lengths, I work to adapt our time together to best suit your needs for that day. I encourage open communication and seek to create the most therapeutic time together possible. The biggest advantage I hear from clients in having longer sessions, is the space and time for the mind to really rest and unwind from the mental chatter of our busy lives.
